Stella had seen him on television before, but never in her wildest dreams did she expect Weston to walk onto their campus. The person in charge of the tour was introducing him to the facilities when they arrived at the office. As they stepped inside, they immediately overheard a female teacher complaining loudly.
The person in charge froze, worried about the impression Weston might get from this incident. He quickly approached her. “Why are you standing here?” he asked, his voice tinged with urgency.
The teacher didn’t hesitate. She turned toward him, launching into an explanation that would certainly embarrass everyone. “Mr. Hall is dating a student’s sister and even gave him the valedictorian spot. Now, the student’s roommate has discovered the truth, and they’re arguing about it in the office. The roommate even has photographs to prove that Mr. Hall is involved with the student’s sister and suspects that Mr. Hall’s actions are unjust…” She poured out the details without realizing the damage she was doing.
The person in charge’s face went pale—not because of Justin, but because of her recklessness. Didn’t she realize Weston was standing right there? Why was she spilling all of this in front of him?
He quickly regained composure and addressed Weston. “Don’t worry, Mr. Ford. We’ll handle this situation.”
But Weston seemed unfazed, his expression blank. His purpose for being there had nothing to do with the office drama. He was there to see Roger. After all, Roger was Stella’s only family.
Seeing Weston’s emotionless face, the person in charge stepped aside, pulling the teacher out of earshot. “Tell Justin to solve this, now! We can’t afford to make our school look bad in front of Mr. Ford.” He felt a pang of realization—he’d made a huge mistake.
Just as she was about to leave, Weston’s voice, colder than ice, stopped her. “Whose student is Justin involved with?”
The question sent a chill down her spine. She had no idea how much trouble she was about to be in.
“Mr. Hall’s involved with Robb,” she answered hesitantly, hoping the truth would end the conversation.
Weston’s expression didn’t change. His face remained as unreadable as ever, but he sighed deeply, the sound carrying a weight of resignation. His hands were buried in his pockets as he stood still, a quiet authority surrounding him.
“Really?” he said, his voice tinged with something almost imperceptible—something that hinted at a story yet untold.
Back in the Office:
The drama wasn’t over. Jack, determined to make Robb pay for the slap he’d received, was set on reporting him. Stella had tried to reason with him, doing her best to convince him to let it go, but Jack wouldn’t budge.
“I know you two are best friends,” she said gently, trying to calm him. “But don’t make a big deal out of this. I can assure you, nothing’s going on between me and Mr. Hall. We were just talking in the booth the other day.”
Her voice was steady, but deep down, she was hoping that Jack would understand, believing that reconciling with him would be the best choice for Roger.
But Roger was having none of it. His fists were clenched, his eyes burning with anger. “Don’t waste your breath talking to him! If he wants to make a fuss, let him. We have nothing to fear.”
Jack, seeing Roger’s resolve, smirked. “How typical,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “You and your sister are the same. You both think you can just get away with everything. You should know better than anyone.”
He’d hit a nerve. Jack was deliberately trying to provoke them, and it was working. Stella glanced at Roger, silently pleading for him to stay calm.
“Don’t say another word. Let me handle this,” she whispered urgently.
