Chapter_101
At that moment, Weston felt no different from the average person caught in the daily grind. He felt like a headless chicken, aimlessly stumbling around the glass enclosure, completely lost.
He wasn’t the only one feeling this way.
Guinevere, watching him from a distance, felt a heavy emptiness in her heart. The looming sense of loss gnawed at her, making it unbearable to remain still. She couldn’t take it anymore. With a sudden burst of emotion, she rushed toward him, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind.
“Did I do something wrong?” she asked, her voice filled with desperation. “Can you tell me directly? Don’t punish me like this, please…”
For the first time, Weston didn’t push her away. Instead, he turned to face her, his eyes dark and intense.
After a long silence, he spoke softly, “I was wrong.”
Meanwhile, Stella had Weston drop her off at the intersection. She didn’t want anyone to see him drive her to work, so she walked toward the building on her own. After entering the parking lot, she made her way toward the elevator.
But as she rounded the corner, a figure appeared out of nowhere, startling her. She instinctively stepped back, only to hear a familiar voice call out, “Sis, it’s me.”
Relieved, Stella sighed and looked at Roger standing before her. But then, worry took over.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, concern evident in her tone.
Roger’s eyes flickered nervously. “I’m worried about you,” he said quietly. Justin had filled him in on the situation the previous night, but Roger couldn’t shake off the worry. He didn’t want to sneak around in the middle of the night and make Stella anxious, so he decided to wait for her here that morning, just to make sure she was alright.
Stella’s expression darkened. “Are you stupid? Why didn’t you just call?”
Her frustration grew as she looked at him. “Look at the time! Don’t you have class? Why did you come to find me? Are you even going to school?”
Roger kept silent, but his eyes began to well up with tears. He looked down, his voice barely a whisper. “I’m just glad you’re okay. I’ll go to school now.”
Without saying another word, he turned to leave.
Stella watched him walk away, her heart heavy. She fumbled with her phone, only then realizing it had turned off the previous night when the battery had died.
Panicked, she quickly chased after him.
“Roger!” she called, grabbing his wrist.
His steps faltered, and he glanced back at her, uncertainty in his eyes. “I’m going to school now…”
“I’m sorry,” Stella interrupted him softly, her voice full of regret. “I didn’t realize my phone was turned off.”
Roger smiled reassuringly, his eyes tired but warm. “It’s okay. I’m just glad you’re fine.”
Stella’s heart tightened as she took in his worn appearance. His face was pale, his dark circles obvious, and his clothes were wrinkled. He must have hardly slept, coming to meet her in yesterday’s clothes.
“Don’t do this again,” she said firmly, her voice filled with sisterly concern. “I’m your sister. I’ll take care of myself.”
Roger nodded and gave her a small smile. “You can go to work. I’ll see you after class.”
Stella glanced at the time. “If you take a taxi, you’ll make it to your first class on time. And don’t forget to eat breakfast.”
“Okay,” he replied, his voice soft but steady.
