Chapter_102
Stella hurried into the elevator, her mind racing. Roger watched her disappear behind the closing doors, his gaze lingering for a moment before he finally turned to leave.
When Stella arrived at the training center, Yvonne was already waiting for her. Her face was filled with concern as she rushed over.
“Ella, you’re back! Are you alright?” she asked anxiously, her eyes scanning Stella for any signs of harm. Before Stella could respond, Yvonne grabbed her arm and gave her a once-over. Seeing that Stella was unharmed, she sighed in relief. “You scared me!”
“What’s wrong?” Stella asked, her confusion evident.
Yvonne exhaled deeply. “I heard all about last night. That man is too unreliable! How could he send you to a place like Lowe Garden?”
Stella raised an eyebrow, not understanding.
Yvonne’s face hardened as she continued. “I know exactly what Lowe Garden is like. There are times when Lucas has to go there for social engagements.”
Her voice softened as she spoke of Lucas. “Lucas is a loyal man, cold and restrained with women outside. But every time he comes back from there, there’s always a faint scent on him.”
Stella frowned, unsure of what Yvonne meant.
“Lucas says he never touches a woman outside,” Yvonne explained, “but even if he didn’t interact with anyone, the place is so… polluted, that it’s hard to avoid bringing something back with you.”
She paused, shaking her head. “That place caters to the wealthy—expensive clothes, watches, and cars that normal people can only dream of. But that doesn’t mean everyone there is decent. Most are two-faced, and the place is full of affairs.”
Yvonne looked at Stella with concern. “A woman like you… you’d be an easy target in a place like that. I should’ve kept a better eye on you.”
Stella smiled warmly, trying to ease Yvonne’s worries. “I’m fine, see? I made it to work without a scratch.”
Yvonne breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m just glad you’re okay. Otherwise, I swear I’d tear Smith into pieces!”
Stella chuckled softly, touched by Yvonne’s protectiveness. Yvonne continued, “I know a little about Smith’s situation. He has a daughter who needs a dance tutor, so I introduced you to him. I thought, since it was through an acquaintance, everything would be fine.”
She looked frustrated. “I never expected his assistant to mess things up like that.”
“Do you know who messed up your contact information?” Yvonne asked. “It was his assistant. She’s nothing but a brainless, pretty bimbo. She’s also his mistress. I’ve already called and scolded him. Mr. Smith fired her right away.”
Stella’s heart warmed as she listened to Yvonne’s words. It had been a long time since anyone had shown such care, other than Roger.
“Thank you,” Stella said, her voice full of sincerity.
Yvonne was slightly embarrassed by the serious tone. “Why are you thanking me? It’s my responsibility. You work for me, and if anything happens, it’s on me.”
Then, as if remembering something, Yvonne’s expression brightened. “By the way, Mr. Smith called me. He wants to know if you still want to tutor his daughter. He’s willing to send someone to pick you up if you agree. Don’t worry, the same thing won’t happen again.”
Stella had thought that she’d lost the job after everything that happened, but to her surprise, there was a possibility to redeem herself.
“It’s fine. Just ask him to send me the address. I’ll take a taxi there,” Stella replied, refusing to take a free ride.
Yvonne raised an eyebrow, looking at her disapprovingly. “You don’t want a free ride? Why are you so nice?”
The two shared a laugh, easing the tension. But as Stella walked down the corridor, she felt eyes on her. She followed the gaze and saw Tina standing there, her face filled with disdain.
The moment Tina noticed Stella looking at her, she quickly lowered her head and scoffed.
Stella said nothing, turning her attention away from Tina. Yvonne, noticing Stella’s reaction, asked, “Are you okay?”
Stella shook her head. “I’m fine. My class is starting soon. I’ll see you later.”
“Alright,” Yvonne said, giving her a reassuring smile.
