Chapter_173
They were filming a historical drama, with the female lead, Guinevere, at the heart of the story. She was the unquestionable choice for the role, and everything in the plot revolved around her.
The male lead and supporting roles were all designed to push Guinevere toward her destiny of becoming the queen. For a mega-production like this, the main roles were long decided, and the sponsors spared no effort to cast their own celebrities in any available part.
Both the male and female leads were the best actors and actresses in the industry. Even before filming began, the movie had already garnered widespread attention. Everyone wanted a piece of it, and even a small supporting role was considered a huge opportunity.
Given the movie’s immense popularity, the producers had no need to gamble with lesser-known talent. They sought out actors and actresses who truly fit the roles. This was why Guinevere was so particular about even the smallest supporting roles.
The female supporting role was complex and multi-dimensional. She started as a gentle, kind young warrior, a character that seemed unlikely to make much of an impact. However, as the story progressed, her feelings for a senior warrior, who secretly loved the female lead, led her to become an obstacle in the female lead’s path.
The female lead was entirely focused on her goals and refused to be distracted by any romantic involvement. The senior warrior, meanwhile, saw the young female warrior as nothing more than a tool to further his own interests and to win the female lead’s favor.
This type of storyline was rare in the industry, which was why it garnered so much attention. The contrast between the two female roles was striking. The supporting female character, driven by unrequited love, eventually turned to darkness, willing to sacrifice everything for a love that was never hers. Her transition from innocence to villainy was subtle, only fully revealed in her final confrontation with the female lead.
It was clear that this role was multi-layered, not easy to portray, and required great skill.
As the director explained this to Stella, an inexplicable emotion stirred within her. She began to empathize deeply with the young female warrior’s plight. Stella related to the feeling of being used by someone she loved. While she wouldn’t go as far as committing the extreme actions the character did, she understood the despair that would drive a kind-hearted and hopeful young woman to turn bitter and desperate.
Her own life mirrored some of those emotions. She once believed that there was hope, but now life felt empty and meaningless. She couldn’t help but think that, had it not been for Roger, she might not have even wanted to be saved that day when she jumped off the building.
The director continued to speak, but Stella was so absorbed in the character that she barely registered his words. Bradley, sensing her deep focus, softened his tone, careful not to interrupt her thoughts.
After a moment, he asked gently, “Are you ready?”
Stella nodded, her mind still lingering on the character’s internal struggle.
Bradley signaled to his crew, and the cameras began rolling. Stella took a deep breath, stepping into the role as she prepared for her first performance.
Meanwhile, her phone in her bag rang incessantly. Weston had been trying to reach her.
