Chapter_103
After Yvonne left, Tina looked up again, a sneer on her lips. “People with connections are different,” she said disdainfully. “They didn’t even bother with the interview last night and still got a second chance!”
The person next to her heard this and opened her mouth as if to say something, but hesitated and remained silent instead.
Stella’s dancing skills were undeniable. She had won many prestigious awards and her professionalism was beyond question. The children here admired her deeply.
During class, while the children were stretching, Stella took the opportunity to retreat to a quiet corner. She closed her eyes, trying to shake off her fatigue. She hadn’t slept much and had spent nearly the entire night on edge, wary of the man next to her.
She would have preferred Weston to confront her directly rather than this slow, uncertain approach. She didn’t understand what he was trying to accomplish.
She knew Weston wouldn’t give up easily, but she truly didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. Was there any way to rid herself of him once and for all?
Suddenly, her mind flashed to someone else, and she opened her eyes. The image of a lifeless body in a hospital bed appeared in her thoughts…
In the Hospital Room
A well-dressed woman stood next to a bedridden man, eyeing his condition with a mixture of disdain and amusement. “You’re getting old. How did you get yourself into so much trouble over a woman? Isn’t your new love a little too late?” she scoffed.
Justin remained silent, his eyes shut tight.
“Why so quiet? Found a new flame and now you can’t even speak to your ex-wife?” The woman crossed her arms and glanced at Justin’s face, a bitter smile on hers. “What a pity. You used to look good, but now you can’t compare to the younger, handsome men out there. Look at you now…”
She clicked her tongue, laughing at his misery. “No wonder the young woman isn’t interested in you.”
“Have you said enough?” Justin finally opened his eyes, giving her a cold, piercing look. “Enough with the sarcasm. Leave!”
“If it weren’t for our son, do you think I’d want to stay here and look at your face?” Tina’s expression shifted, becoming impatient. “Bryce insisted I come to see you now that you’re in the hospital. What else could I do?”
The mention of Bryce softened Justin’s gaze. He rubbed his brow, sighing slightly. “Tell him I’m fine. He doesn’t need to worry about me.”
“That’s what you said! If he asks again, I’ll tell him I came and took care of you,” Tina replied, her tone sharp.
Justin simply nodded in agreement. “Yeah.”
Without another word, Tina grabbed her bag and turned to leave, her steps firm and resolute.
Justin watched her go, a deep sigh escaping him. He pulled out his phone and gazed at the photo of the little boy on his screen—his son, Bryce, with a bright smile, looking so much like him. A look of tenderness softened Justin’s features as he lingered on the picture for a moment.
After a pause, Justin dialed Stella’s number. When the call connected, his voice came out raspy. “Ella, you finally answered.”
It was nearly time for Stella to leave work. As she changed, the unexpected call from Justin caught her attention.
Relieved to hear that he was okay, Stella was about to say something but hesitated. She had planned to call him earlier to check on him but had refrained because of Weston’s warning. The last thing she wanted was to drag any more innocent people into their mess.
After thinking it over for a moment, she finally spoke, her voice steady but firm. “We shouldn’t contact each other anymore.”
