Chapter_67
Skylar wondered how Joe could possibly help her. But then again, business was often like war, and the Williams family had been at the top in Jipsburg for years. It was almost inevitable that they had made enemies along the way, even unintentionally.
“You’re really lucky. Someone’s targeting the Williams family at just the right moment,” Steven remarked with a knowing smile.
Skylar found Steven’s analysis convincing. It didn’t matter who was behind it; the outcome was what mattered most. The unexpected turn of events had worked in her favor, and that was enough for now.
As the two shared a quiet smile, unaware of the eyes watching them, Paul was across the street in a building, dining with his college friends. He’d decided to grab a bite at a familiar barbecue spot but hadn’t expected to see Skylar with a man.
Although the man had his back turned, Paul could tell that he was likely handsome—otherwise, Skylar wouldn’t have been smiling so naturally and brightly at him. A twinge of jealousy stirred within him as he observed their interaction.
After a brief internal struggle, Paul decided to act on it. He could send the photos to Joe. After all, Joe paid his bills, and Gloria had specifically asked him to keep an eye on Skylar. She even suggested he play matchmaker if an opportunity arose. This could be his chance.
Paul wondered if Joe would feel a tinge of jealousy seeing Skylar so happily engaged with another man. It was possible that this smile—so warm, radiant, and free—could stir something in Joe.
When Paul zoomed in on the photo, he noticed that the man didn’t seem infatuated with Skylar. In fact, he appeared calm and composed, unlike someone who was smitten. That didn’t stop Paul. He selected a few of the photos and sent them to Joe.
Joe had just arrived at Galaxy Villa when he heard the notification on his phone. He was still in his work clothes and hadn’t even changed his shoes when he pulled out his phone. His eyes narrowed as he saw the photos Paul had sent.
The image was clear: a beautiful woman smiling warmly at the man across from her. It was a smile Joe hadn’t seen before—coy, gentle, and almost dependent. It was a look that suggested the man’s presence made everything seem just right.
Joe’s gaze turned cold as he shifted his attention to the man in the photos. Who was he? His suspicion grew, the emotion in his chest settling into something darker. The man looked dignified, handsome—almost as striking as Joe himself.
Meanwhile, Paul stood eagerly waiting, phone in hand. He knew that with just one word from Joe, he would understand whether there were any feelings between Skylar and this man. He kept his eyes trained on the pair as they got up to leave the restaurant.
As Skylar and the man made their way to the door, Paul caught sight of the man’s face for the first time. His eyes widened in shock. The man was just as attractive as Joe. He was tall, composed, and exuded an air of protection as he stood close to Skylar.
As they exited, a drunk man stumbled toward Skylar, and the stranger immediately stepped in, shielding her from the collision. He held her close under his arm, ensuring her safety. Paul quickly snapped a few more photos and even recorded a video of them leaving together.
The height difference between them made them look like the perfect pair, and Paul couldn’t resist. He sent the photos and video to Joe, confident that they would make an impact.
