Christopher’s grip on Skylar’s wrist tightened, but she immediately yanked her arm away. Her eyes narrowed with disdain as she looked at him, her voice calm but firm. “Let go, Christopher. I don’t want to hear your excuses anymore. It’s over.”
He stood there, stunned for a moment, his usual smug confidence replaced by a mixture of frustration and confusion. “Skylar, please, you have to believe me. I swear, I never—”
“No,” Skylar interrupted, her voice cutting through the air like a blade. “You lied to me, manipulated me, and used my trust. There’s nothing left to say. I’m done.”
Christopher’s expression faltered for just a moment. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but no words came out. He wasn’t used to being rejected like this, especially by someone he thought he could easily manipulate.
Skylar took a deep breath, her gaze hardening. “You really think you can just explain everything away, don’t you? Well, I’m not buying it. Not anymore. Whatever you did, whatever’s going on with Amy or whoever else you’re involved with, I don’t care. I don’t want any part of it.”
Christopher took a step forward, but Skylar didn’t move an inch. Her body language was clear—she wasn’t afraid of him anymore. She was finished.
“Just leave me alone, Christopher,” she said, her voice low and final. “You don’t get to make me doubt myself again.”
He hesitated for a long moment, then let out a deep sigh. “Fine. But you’re making a mistake, Skylar. You’ll see.”
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Skylar standing there, her hand still stinging from his earlier grip. But she wasn’t shaken. If anything, this encounter only reinforced her decision to walk away from him for good.
Skylar watched him leave, her heart pounding in her chest, but not from fear or regret—just from the surge of strength she felt for standing her ground. This was her life now. No more lies, no more manipulation. She was going to build something for herself, something real.
Turning back toward the parking lot, she took a deep breath and pushed all thoughts of Christopher from her mind. It was time to move forward.
As she got into her car and drove away, she couldn’t help but feel a small sense of relief. The closure she had longed for was finally here.
