Skylar felt a sense of suspicion creep over her as she replied to Natalie, “What a coincidence.”
Almost immediately, Natalie responded. “Isn’t it just! By the way, why did you reply to me so late? Were you up to something naughty? Spill the beans.”
Skylar paused when she saw the word “naughty.” She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. It was just an accident, after all.
Trying to keep things light, she half-joked but still told the truth. “I was soaking in a hot spring with a hunk, touched his eight-pack abs, and he accidentally lost his pants. I saw everything.”
Natalie stared at the message on her phone, her eyes wide in surprise. Her previously gloomy mood seemed to vanish, replaced by sheer excitement.
“Oh my god! My dear, have you decided to let loose after breaking up with that scumbag? Tell me where you found such a catch. Send me photos. I wanna see!”
Skylar chuckled, feeling a little awkward but still amused. “I’m talking about a real person, not some video.”
“Is it for real?” Natalie asked, clearly hesitant but eager to know more.
“For real,” Skylar confirmed.
Natalie seemed to pause for a moment, before sending another message. “I get it. You had a naughty dream. Poor girl. Well, I’ll help you find a real hunk. You know my cousin, right? He spends six days a week at the gym. His chest is even bigger than mine. I’ll bring him over this weekend. You need a boyfriend like him. You’ll thank me later!”
Skylar sighed, amused but resolute. “No need. I’m already married.”
Natalie, not quite believing her, responded with a wink emoji. “Yeah, right. Go to sleep. Dreams can be wild. See you this weekend!”
“See you then,” Skylar replied, shaking her head and smiling.
She turned off her phone, her mood lightened by the exchange, and opened her Amazon store. There had been plenty of orders recently, and with the increasing income, Skylar began to think about dedicating a few hours each day to live streaming when she had more time.
But something caught her eye. One particular order stood out. The buyer’s avatar showed a luxurious watch worth several hundred thousand dollars, its slender, manicured wrist hinting at wealth. People who used such avatars often wanted to show off, and this buyer was no exception.
The buyer had sent her a picture of a seal with gold leaf patterns on it. While Skylar mainly dealt with antiques, she had some knowledge of these items—Viola had once taught her about them.
Skylar didn’t consider herself especially talented in this area, but she had developed an intuition for the items over time. Now, when she looked at them, she could almost feel their essence, their history, as if the objects spoke to her.
Her expression grew serious as she examined the seal.
“I heard this seal can improve luck in love. Is it a scam? Do you understand this kind of thing?” the buyer asked.
Skylar focused on the seal and responded, “It can attract a partner, but the person you seek likely has a family already. Am I right?”
The buyer hesitated, and Skylar saw the typing indicator appear, but the message wasn’t sent for a while. She could sense the buyer’s uncertainty. Items like these could have unintended consequences, especially if the user wasn’t careful.
After a moment of thought, Skylar added, “You’ve used other items before, haven’t you? The person you desire is already in a committed relationship. This seal can help, but it may affect your future children’s fortune.”
The buyer replied almost immediately: “You’re right. The person I love has a family, but his wife can’t compare to me. I can tell he likes me more, and we’re more suited for each other. However, he finds it hard to divorce due to family pressure. Can you offer a better solution? I need to have a child soon. Name your price.”
Skylar felt a wave of discomfort as she read the buyer’s blunt request. The anonymity of the internet often encouraged people to be bolder, but it didn’t make the situation any easier to handle.
She didn’t hesitate for long. “Sorry, I can’t help you. Please request a refund for this order,” she wrote decisively.
There was no reply after that. Skylar closed the chat window, feeling unsettled by the conversation. She couldn’t help but wonder about the kind of person who would seek out such solutions, using magical items to manipulate love and fate.
