“I nearly fell for it!” Natalie exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“Are you trying to prank me? That’s Joe Martin! Don’t tell me you want him for yourself after just bumping into him that one time?” She laughed, but then quickly added, “I have to hand it to you. This looks so real. What app did you use?”
“Share it with me! I want to make one for Austin and me. If I can’t marry him, I’ll just fake a marriage certificate!” Natalie joked, grinning at the picture of Joe on Skylar’s phone.
Skylar rolled her eyes. “Yes, it’s Joe. I married him. It was a whirlwind romance.” She couldn’t help but chuckle at how convincing Natalie was.
“Oh, sure, I believe you!” Natalie said, barely able to suppress her laughter. She wasn’t fooled for a second. The whole story sounded too far-fetched, and the more Skylar tried to play it cool, the more Natalie could tell it was a joke.
Skylar was ready to give up. Even though she had a picture of her marriage certificate with Joe, she knew there was no way Natalie would believe her. If she showed her the actual document, Natalie would probably find some other reason to doubt her.
Just as they were chatting, Charles and Austin finished filming their scene.
Skylar’s phone rang. It was Charles.
“Skye, are you here?” he asked.
“Present and accounted for, Charles!” Skylar waved in his direction.
“I see you. I’ll come get you in a bit. I told Austin about you two earlier. He knows you’re fans, and he said he’ll leave after taking a picture with you,” Charles informed her.
They headed to the set’s lounge area, where they quickly met up with Austin.
Austin was surprisingly casual. After Charles introduced Skylar and Natalie, he smiled warmly at them.
He had plenty of female fans—some young enough to comment on his posts saying things like, “I want your children!” His fans were truly adorable.
Without missing a beat, Skylar let Natalie take the lead. “Mr. Powell, we’re fresh graduates, and I’ve been a fan of yours for ten years! I first saw you in Vigil, and your stunts were so precise. You’re the best! I really, really like you! You’re the actor I admire most out of all the ones I know!”
Natalie was so thrilled, she could barely contain herself. This was a dream come true—meeting her idol face to face.
Skylar smiled, then added, “Natalie introduced me to you, Mr. Powell. I think your acting and stunts are fantastic as well.”
Skylar wasn’t someone who usually chased after actors, but she wasn’t lying when she said she admired Austin’s acting skills. In fact, if she had to pick an idol, it would be someone like Viola, but she certainly appreciated Austin’s dedication to his craft. Charles had mentioned how Austin was scandal-free and rarely appeared on variety shows, maintaining a good reputation in the industry. Directors he had worked with spoke highly of him.
Austin’s smile turned genuine as he looked at the enthusiastic and sincere Natalie. “It’s an honor to gain your favor.”
Natalie blushed at his words, her cheeks turning crimson. “Could I get a picture with you?”
“Of course, you can,” Austin said with a grin.
Natalie immediately grabbed Skylar’s arm, pulling her over for an impromptu photo session. Charles took on the role of their photographer, capturing the moment.
