At that moment, Skylar picked up her phone and called Joe.
“Mr. Martin,” she began, her voice calm but assertive. “As long as we’re married, I’d be happy to give you a daily head massage to improve your sleep. But I need a favor in return.”
She knew the massages had a significant impact on his sleep quality.
“What favor? Shoot,” Joe replied, his voice relaxed as he accepted his coffee from Paul. He was playing golf with friends, and the call took him by surprise. It was a rare interruption during his break.
In fact, Joe had been thinking about how to ask her for those daily massages. Her mentioning it herself made it easier for him.
“Charles is currently shooting a film, and Samuel is also part of the cast. We had a conflict today. Given Samuel’s nature, he’s definitely going to cause trouble…” Skylar’s voice trailed off.
Joe grasped the situation immediately. “Alright, I’ll handle it.”
“Thank you,” Skylar replied before ending the call.
After hanging up, Joe turned to Paul. “Handle it,” he instructed. Paul nodded and left to make a few calls.
Meanwhile, Joe’s gaze shifted toward Jeremy, who was not far away, teaching Annabelle how to play golf.
“Mr. Hughes and his secretary seem to have a rather… special relationship,” Paul remarked, returning after his calls and glancing in their direction.
Annabelle was laughing, stamping her foot coquettishly. “Mr. Hughes, I’m so clumsy!”
Jeremy gently held her hand, offering her a warm smile. His voice was tender when he replied, “Try again a few more times. I’ll teach you until you get it.”
With a playful breath, Annabelle puffed her cheeks, her innocence matched by her undeniable charm. “With you as my instructor, Mr. Hughes, I’ll work hard to learn, even if I’m slow. I wouldn’t want to disappoint you.”
The scene was almost too perfect, and Paul couldn’t help but wonder. Wasn’t Jeremy supposed to be devoted to his childhood sweetheart—his wife? Why was his relationship with Annabelle beginning to look so ambiguous?
Looking at the other CEOs nearby, Paul noticed they didn’t seem shocked. It was likely that they had known about Jeremy and Annabelle’s closeness for a while.
Joe only glanced in their direction for a moment before turning his attention back to his phone. He read the WhatsApp message from Skylar—a thank-you emoji and a note saying she would add two more dishes to his dinner tomorrow. A warmth spread through him as he thought about the upcoming meal.
Meanwhile, Samuel was dealing with his own frustrations. The assistant director handed him an envelope with $20,000.
Samuel nodded stiffly and went to change into his costume. He stared at the villa across from him with a sense of unease. He was the male lead, yet he had to stay in a shared apartment with the rest of the crew.
The villa, while clean, was clearly meant for temporary staff. It wasn’t a luxurious five-star hotel. Though the rooms were well-equipped, they didn’t measure up to the standards he was used to.
Several villas stood across from him, and he had heard they were reserved for high-profile guests. They were strictly off-limits to most people. Samuel, the male lead, couldn’t even stay in one of them, yet the director had a villa of his own.
Frustrated, Samuel gritted his teeth. After stewing over the unfairness for a while, he donned his costume and headed out for his next scene. Charles, as the fourth male lead, didn’t have many scenes, his role being relatively minor.
