“Are you ready for a good beating?” Skylar rolled up her sleeves and set her bag aside.
She adopted a fighting stance, ready for a confrontation.
Christopher was caught off guard at first, then quickly accused, “Skylar, you’ve changed. You’re no longer the kind and pure Skylar you used to be!”
“Kindness doesn’t work for you,” Skylar responded, flexing her wrists and ankles, preparing herself for a fight.
Before he could react, she kicked him. Christopher didn’t expect the sudden strike. He was thrown off balance, nearly falling onto his backside. He clutched his stomach, looking at Skylar as if she had deeply hurt him.
“You’ve really changed!” he groaned.
Skylar didn’t respond. She simply walked away, not sparing him another glance. To Christopher, it seemed she had become heartless after moving on with someone else.
His eyes reddened, and he swore that Skylar hadn’t seen the last of him yet.
Ten minutes later, Skylar got into her car and hit the road. The incident hadn’t fazed her. However, Christopher’s shamelessness still surprised her. She had truly been blind back then! Thinking back to how disheveled he looked, she realized he must be struggling—especially with Amelia needing surgery. He had probably tried every way he could to raise the money he lacked.
The consequences of his actions would catch up with him soon.
When Skylar returned to Galaxy Villa, she prepared a simple dinner. Afterward, she went upstairs to handle business for her Amazon online shop.
Before heading to bed, she received a WhatsApp message from Joe. “I have a friend who needs your help selecting an item to ward off bad energy. Money is no object.”
Skylar thought for a moment before responding. “Is it someone from the club we met that day?”
Joe replied, “Yes, it’s Rowan.”
At that moment, Joe was finishing his work for the day, standing by a floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the cityscape.
Skylar replied, “I can help pick a protective item, but he shouldn’t rely too much on them. He should get a full check-up at the hospital. I suggest you go too.”
Joe raised an eyebrow at her suggestion and, after a brief pause, sent back a reply: “I don’t need to.”
Skylar shot back, “Don’t be too confident in your immunity.”
Joe’s lips twitched, and he found his medical examination report on his phone. With a smirk, he sent it to her, as if to prove her wrong.
