The captain of the security team, accompanied by his subordinates, approached Kenny and his brothers with a commanding presence.
“Please leave immediately,” he demanded, his tone firm.
Surrounded by the imposing security guards, Kenny, Samuel, and Peter’s expressions faltered, and they visibly shrank back. The tension in the air was thick with intimidation.
“You better think this through! Are you really ready to sever all ties with the Williams family?” Samuel shouted, his voice full of disbelief. He was convinced Skylar was only trying to manipulate them.
Skylar turned to leave, uninterested in engaging with someone as unreasonable as Samuel. It was a waste of time and energy to argue with him.
“Stand right where you are, Skylar!” Peter shouted, his voice laced with frustration. Even he, usually so confident, felt that something was amiss.
Skylar didn’t care. She wasn’t going to stop just because they demanded it. They were acting like fools, and she had no intention of appeasing them.
Without looking back, she walked away, her pace steady. The brothers could think whatever they wanted—she was done.
Kenny gritted his teeth, frustration evident on his face. He turned to Peter and Samuel. “I told you she wouldn’t entertain us. Let’s go.”
Peter could only nod stiffly as the security guards prepared to step in.
Samuel’s face twisted in rage. “She’ll regret this!”
In his mind, Skylar was simply jealous that the entire family favored Maisy. No matter what she did, she couldn’t measure up to Maisy in their eyes. Samuel’s anger boiled over, fueling his harsh words.
“Skylar, my dearest sister… If you watch me fall apart without lifting a finger, I won’t blame you. It’s all my fault, after all. How I wish we hadn’t been switched at birth… Then things would’ve been different. But even so, you can’t join forces with outsiders to destroy our family! Do you know how much more weary Dad has become overnight? Mom hasn’t been able to sleep properly. Her hair has grayed so much over the past few days!”
Just as Samuel finished, Maisy hurried over, her steps frantic. She was desperate to expose Skylar’s “true nature” in front of the staff, hoping to see Skylar crumble under the pressure.
Skylar looked at Maisy, her gaze icy. She knew what was happening—Maisy was once again playing the pity card, trying to manipulate the situation.
Several colleagues who were passing by were now caught in the drama. They exchanged confused glances, unsure of what was going on. To them, it looked like Skylar was bullying the sobbing woman.
Skylar, however, was not what they expected. She was usually gentle and well-liked among her colleagues. Despite being relatively new, she had earned respect for her professionalism. Whenever a task required two people, the seasoned employees were eager to partner up with Skylar.
It wasn’t just because she was new, but because she was good at what she did. Many admired her and wanted to learn from her.
Assessing the situation, some of the onlookers speculated that this might be some complicated family drama playing out in front of them.
Skylar, ever the composed one, had a reputation for being emotionally stable, just like many of her colleagues. She didn’t usually show this side of herself, but it was clear to everyone that she had reached her limit.
Her red lips curled into a mocking smile as she turned to Maisy. “Here comes another performance. If you love acting so much, why don’t you join the entertainment industry and improve your skills? You’ve been giving the same performance every time. Aren’t you tired of it? Honestly, I’m so sick of it I could puke.”
She glanced at the staff around her, and a few couldn’t hold back their snickers. Skylar was known for her gentle nature, but today, she was sharp-tongued and witty in putting Maisy in her place.
“Don’t go around calling me your sister in the future. If you need to be coddled this much, go put on a diaper. You shouldn’t be calling anyone ‘your elder sister’ without earning it.”
Some of the staff struggled to hold back their laughter. Skylar had always been easy to get along with—gentle in her speech and actions. But today, they saw a different side of her: confident, direct, and unafraid to speak her mind. No wonder there had been something off earlier. They had misjudged her as weak, but she was far stronger than they gave her credit for.
